Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,155 children were newly reported to have measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its central health situation report issued today (Monday).
According to the report, five children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. However, no deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported during the period.
According to DGHS data, the number of deaths involving measles-like symptoms has reached 780 between March 15 and August 10. During the same period, another 98 children died from laboratory-confirmed measles.
As a result, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms between March 15 and August 10 has reached 878.
