In the past 24 hours in the country, 7 more children have died due to measles and measles-like symptoms. Among them, 3 deaths were from confirmed measles cases, while the remaining 4 were children who showed measles-like symptoms.
This information was reported today (Thursday) in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles bulletin. It states that the deaths occurred between 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday (May 20) and 8:00 a.m. on Thursday (May 21).
According to the report, during the same period, symptoms of measles were identified in 1,423 more children nationwide. Since March 15, the total number of children showing symptoms has reached 59,279.
Health officials also reported that 208 new confirmed measles cases were recorded in the last 24 hours alone. Since March 15, the total number of confirmed measles cases has risen to 8,275.
In addition, a total of 46,407 children with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals during this period. Of them, 42,336 have recovered and been discharged.
According to the DGHS figures, since March 15, 405 children have died with measles-like symptoms, and 83 have died from confirmed measles, bringing the total death toll to 488.
