Bangladesh measles death toll rises to 738

Bangladesh reported seven more suspected measles-related deaths in the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday, pushing the country‍‍`s combined tally of confirmed and suspected fatalities to 738 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest deaths have been classified as suspected measles fatalities. With the new figures, the number of suspected deaths has increased to 645, while laboratory-confirmed deaths remain unchanged at 93.

During the same period, health authorities recorded 925 new suspected measles cases, raising the nationwide total to 105,618.

The DGHS also confirmed 106 additional measles infections through laboratory testing, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 12,632.

Since March 15, a total of 88,844 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 85,122 have recovered, according to the latest DGHS data.
