Bangladesh records 3 more suspected measles deaths

Bangladesh has recorded three more child deaths linked to measles-like symptoms, pushing the country‍‍`s total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities to 631.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the latest deaths reported in the 24 hours until 8:00 am Tuesday have been classified as suspected measles cases.

The latest figures show that suspected measles deaths now stand at 539, while the number of laboratory-confirmed fatalities remains unchanged at 92.

Health authorities also reported a continued rise in infections, with 980 new suspected cases identified during the reporting period. This brings the nationwide total of suspected measles cases to 81,084.

In addition, 54 new cases were confirmed through laboratory testing, increasing the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 9,833.

Hospital admissions linked to the outbreak remain high. Since March 15, a total of 66,170 people with suspected measles have received treatment in hospitals across the country.

Among those admitted, 62,292 patients have recovered and been discharged, according to the latest DGHS data.

The updated figures highlight the continuing impact of the measles outbreak as health authorities monitor the spread of the disease and provide treatment to affected patients nationwide.
