One more child died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,013 children were reported to have contracted measles or measles-related illnesses during the same period.
The information was revealed in the latest measles update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon.
According to the report, although one child died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child was confirmed to have died from measles during the period.
DGHS data showed that since March 15, a total of 685 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country. During the same period, 95 children died after being confirmed to have measles. In total, 780 children have died from measles or measles-like illnesses so far.
In the past 24 hours, 140 new measles cases were reported, while 873 children were diagnosed with measles-like illnesses. Combined, 1,013 children were affected by measles and related symptoms in a single day.
According to DGHS data, a total of 98,600 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 95,031 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
