Six more die from measles, measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Six more children have died in the country in the past 24 hours due to measles or measles-like symptoms. Among them, one child was confirmed to have had measles, while the other five died showing symptoms of the disease.

The information was released on Sunday in a press statement by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The statement says that during the same period, 1,274 more children across the country developed measles-like symptoms. In addition, 243 new measles cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,517.

The child with confirmed measles died in Barishal. Among the deaths from suspected cases, three occurred in Dhaka, one in Sylhet, and one in Mymensingh.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, since March 15, a total of 384 children have died from measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 75 children died after being confirmed as measles cases, bringing the total death toll to 459.

Since March 15, a total of 57,846 children have shown measles symptoms. Of them, 42,092 were hospitalized, and 37,744 have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
