A major fire at an electrical substation has forced the closure of Heathrow Airport, causing massive disruption for travelers and airlines alike.

The incident, which took place on Friday, March 21, has led to the suspension of all flight operations at one of the world’s busiest airports.

The fire broke out at an electrical substation that powers Heathrow, cutting off electricity to the entire airport.

As a result, more than 1,351 flights may be canceled, affecting the plans of an estimated 291,000 passengers.

Aviation experts warn that the shutdown could have widespread consequences on international travel, tourism, and trade, as Heathrow is a key hub for global aviation.

Heathrow Airport authorities took to social media to inform the public that the airport will remain closed until 11:59 PM on March 21.

They urged passengers to avoid coming to the airport during this time, emphasizing the importance of safety for both passengers and staff.

Meanwhile, the London Fire Brigade has deployed approximately 70 firefighters to battle the blaze.

Efforts are underway to extinguish the fire, and around 150 people have already been evacuated from nearby buildings as a precaution.

Thousands of homes and buildings in the surrounding area have been left without power.

The cause of the fire at the substation remains unknown, and fire service officials are investigating.

In the meantime, travelers are advised to stay updated on their flight status as the situation continues to unfold.

Experts predict that the effects of this closure will extend beyond London, as flight cancellations and delays are likely to disrupt travel plans globally, putting pressure on the travel and tourism industries.
