Former US president Joe Biden diagnosed with ‘aggressive prostate cancer’

Biden, 82, underwent further evaluation after doctors discovered a small nodule in his prostate.

Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement released by his office on Sunday.

The cancer is described as having a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating a highly aggressive form of the disease. Despite the severity, the cancer is said to be hormone-sensitive, which makes it more manageable through treatment.

Biden, 82, underwent further evaluation after doctors discovered a small nodule in his prostate. His office confirmed that he and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his medical team.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, with age being a major risk factor, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
