Tragedy struck in South Korea as authorities fear the worst for nearly all 181 people aboard a passenger plane that crashed while attempting to land.

Only two survivors have been found so far.

According to Yonhap, South Korea‍‍`s national news agency, two individuals were pulled from the wreckage alive.

Both survivors were located in the rear section of the plane. Authorities are now saying that the likelihood of anyone else surviving the crash is very low.

The plane was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand.

The aircraft crashed on the runway of Muan International Airport shortly after 9 AM local time on Sunday during its landing attempt.

So far, 96 deaths have been confirmed by authorities. Rescue operations are still underway as emergency teams work tirelessly at the crash site.

Muan International Airport is located in the province of Muan, roughly 288 kilometers, or 179 miles, southwest of Seoul, South Korea‍‍`s capital.

At least 32 firefighting units have been dispatched to the scene to assist with the rescue effort.

Officials believe that the crash may have been caused by a bird strike, which could have led to a malfunction in the landing gear.

An investigation has already been launched to determine the exact cause of this tragic accident.
