The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has formed a five-member investigation committee into the sinking of the ferry `Rajnigandha` at Paturia in Manikganj.
The incident happened on Wednesday, as a result of the bulkhead colliding with heavy fog.
The committee has been asked to submit the inquiry report within the next five working days.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury responded to a query in the Secretariat that same day, stating that the reason of the ferry accident in the middle of the Paturia-Daulatdia river route at Padma in Manikganj cannot be determined in the absence of an inquiry report.
