Gas cylinder explosion in Manikganj kills balloon vendor

A gas cylinder explosion this morning in Manikganj, claimed the life of a balloon vendor and injured another.

According to witnesses, Anwar Bepari, 50, of Kotwali upazila in Faridpur was identified as the deceased, and Kabir Hossain, 23, of Paschim Shanbandha village in Manikganj Sadar was the injured.

Anwar was critically injured in an explosion that occurred early in the morning on Saturday while he was filling balloons with gas on the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner‍‍`s office property, according to Inspector (Investigation) Swapan Kumar Sarker of Manikganj Police Station, who cited witnesses.

The inspector stated that after being taken to a nearby hospital, he was moved to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. Around 8:00 am, Anwar passed away there, he added.

The police official stated that his body is currently in the Manikganj 250-Bed Hospital morgue.
