The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has claimed to recover about Tk 9 crore out of Tk 11.25 crore looted in the Uttara area of capital.
The money was robbed from a vehicle of Money Plant, which is a hired companey transporting money of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL), ensuring security.
The vehicle of the security agency (Money Plant Link Private Limited) carrying cash to refill DBBL ATMs in Savar was robbed of around Tk11.25 crore in Dhaka's Turag area at gun-point on Thursday.
According to DMP's DB chief Mohammad Haroon-or-Rashid, 3 out of 4 trunks full of looted money of DBBL have been recovered.
Seven people, including two directors and the driver of Money Plant engaged in money transportation, have been detained for questioning, he added.
Primarily DB said this might be a planned incident. The DB official also said that the robbers were planning to snatch the money for a long.
Haroon told these to reporters in front of Hotel La Meridien in Uttara of the capital on Thursday (March 9) evening.
