Both Dhaka North and South City Corporations have announced their readiness to remove sacrificial animal waste on the same day of Eid-ul-Azha.
The cleanup operations are scheduled to begin in the afternoon of Eid day, with a goal to complete waste removal within 12 hours.
To achieve this, approximately 10,000 sanitation workers are being deployed in each city corporation.
The authorities have also kept a sufficient number of waste collection vehicles on standby and have coordinated with government and private organizations to ensure additional support if needed.
Residents have been encouraged to conduct sacrifices in designated locations to ease waste management efforts. However, individual household waste will also be promptly collected by the city’s sanitation teams.
In Dhaka North, it is estimated that nearly 20,000 tons of waste will be generated during Eid. To manage this, over 220 dump trucks, 380 pickup vans, and 24 payloaders will be utilized.
In addition, 1.25 million polybags, 2,500 sacks of bleaching powder, and 4,000 cans of disinfectant have been distributed for hygienic waste handling.
For an environmentally responsible disposal process, two trenches have been prepared at the Amin Bazar landfill.
Security and hygiene measures have also been reinforced at all official cattle markets, including the deployment of mobile courts, law enforcement, and volunteer teams to ensure smooth operations and safety for buyers and sellers alike.
