A joint security force conducted a raid at the residence of former Awami League lawmaker Haji Selim in Old Dhaka’s Lalbagh area on Sunday, seizing six private vehicles.
Lalbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafa Kamal confirmed the operation to the media in the afternoon, saying details would be provided later at a press briefing.
According to law enforcement sources, the six luxury vehicles were recovered from a concealed room inside the underground parking area of the building. Authorities have detained the building’s manager for questioning.
The seized vehicles include one carrying a parliamentary member’s logo. The building is known locally as Gulshanara Masuda Tower.
Haji Selim and his elder son, former lawmaker Solaiman Selim, have been in prison since the Awami League was ousted from power following the student–public uprising on 5 August last year. Another son, Irfan Selim, remains absconding.
