Special team of DMP preparing to speed up Emergency Service 999

A special team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is being prepared to deal with any kind of violence, anarchy, conflict and disaster situation, to make the National Emergency Service 999 more effective. Team members will be provided with specialized training and equipment.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), AKM Hafiz Akhtar told this to The Report.live.

This additional commissioner of DMP said, “A list of 200 members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has been prepared to enable the 999 to be made more effective and faster to provide uninterrupted national emergency services. These members of the police are skilled and they are being trained to be more efficient. They will be given special equipment and training.” However, this senior official of DMP did not want to reveal the name of this special team.

Meanwhile, a DMP source told The Report.Live on condition of anonymity that the name of this special team of DMP is Crisis Response Team (CRT). The heads of the respective departments will coordinate it. This special team will include four hundred members from four departments of DMP based on physical ability.

Earlier on October 27, 2020, the Quick Response Team (QRT) program was launched to prevent violence against women and children. On the same day their hotline service was launched. This program is still ongoing in the Women Support and Investigation Department located in the capital's Tejgaon police station compound. Women can contact this team's hotline for immediate help if they feel unsafe or in danger on the road or elsewhere.
