Technical glitch halts metro rail at Farmgate, restored within minutes

A metro train traveling from Uttara to the city center experienced an unexpected halt at Dhaka’s Farmgate station on Monday morning around 9:20 a.m.

The incident caused a temporary disruption in service, prompting some passengers to disembark and continue their journey on foot.

Prior to stopping, the train reportedly lost power to its interior lighting and air conditioning system near the Bijoy Sarani bend.

Despite the system malfunction, the train proceeded to Farmgate station, where passengers boarded and alighted.

However, it failed to continue beyond that point for several minutes, with essential onboard services remaining inactive during the stoppage.

Many passengers chose to leave the train and proceed to their destinations without waiting for further instructions, as no immediate announcement was made regarding the disruption.

Authorities later confirmed that the interruption was due to a technical fault and described the issue as temporary. Normal operations resumed approximately five to six minutes after the halt.
