Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on the ambassadors of eight countries posted in Bangladesh. Ambassadors congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of their respective countries for Awami League`s absolute victory in the 12th National Parliament elections.
The courtesy meeting was held on Monday (January 8) at Ganabhaban.
The countries are - India, Russia, China, Bhutan, Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
Also, in the meeting, the ambassadors expressed their determination to continue cooperation with Bangladesh.
At this time, the Prime Minister thanked the ambassadors and sought their cooperation in the development and progress of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Awami League is going to form the government for the fourth time in a row after its absolute victory in the 12th National Parliament elections.
As of 1:15 am on Sunday, results for 297 out of 299 constituencies have been received. It shows that Awami League candidates won 223 seats unofficially. And Jatiya Party won in 11 seats.
The party that wins more than half of the 300 seats i.e. 151 seats or more form the government. Awami League won more than 151 seats. As a result, the party led by Sheikh Hasina is going to form the government for the fourth consecutive time. Earlier, Awami League formed the government in 2008, 2014 and 2018 elections.
