Finally 'rain of relief' happens in Sylhet

Severe and moderate heat wave is ongoing in all over the country. People's lives are disrupted in the hottest summer in history.

The countrymen have been suffering for several days due to the intense heat wave. This intense heat is not likely to subside anytime soon. Special prayers (salaat al-istisqa) were also offered in the capital for rain.

Finally the people of Companyganj in Sylhet got relief from hot weather and enjoyed the rain on Monday (April 17) started around 8:50pm and then hailstorm started around 10:00pm.

Meteorologist Shah Mohammad Sajib Hossain of Sylhet Meteorological Office confirmed the matter to the media and said, "Earlier we had a glimpse of rain. Rain has started in several places including Companyganj."

He added, "Heavy rain is likely in Sylhet city and surrounding areas. It may start raining in the next hour."

Earlier, in Monday morning's forecast, the Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of rain in three divisions of the country in Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet. So far there have been reports of rain in Sylhet.

However, meteorologists said that despite the limited rainfall, the people are not getting relief from the heat for the time being. About the weather conditions for the next five days, the department says that rain or thunderstorm may occur in the next five days.
