Flight operations at MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet has resumed after six days of suspension due to the ongoing devastating floods in the country's northeastern region.
"Flight operations have resumed at the airport from dawn. All activities are being operated normally here," Manager of the MAG Osmani International Airport Hafiz Ahmed told BSS on Thursday.
According to airport sources, two flights have landed and flown away.
Besides, a flight left Sylhet for Manchester and several flights have been conducted on Sylhet-Dhaka route till evening.
Airport sources added that all regular flights will be operated from now on.
The authorities suspended flight operations at the airport for three days from June 17 as runways and street lights of the approach area of the airport went under the flood water, he said, adding that the flight suspension was, later, extended for more days as the flood situations deteriorated further.
Earlier, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali visited the MAG Osmani International Airport on June 20 last.
