The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested six people over the death of Bobi Begum, a speech-impaired elderly woman who was attacked and robbed at Methikanda railway station in Narsingdi.
RAB’s law and media wing confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday.
According to RAB, the six suspects were arrested for their involvement in the attack and looting at Methikanda railway station that led to Bobi Begum’s death. A press briefing was scheduled for Friday afternoon at the RAB Media Centre in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka, where RAB-11 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Masud Parvez was expected to provide details of the incident.
Earlier, Bobi Begum, a speech-impaired elderly woman, was reportedly assaulted and robbed during the attack at Methikanda railway station in Narsingdi. Her death later sparked widespread discussion and public reaction across the country.
RAB-11 launched an operation to identify and arrest those involved in the incident and subsequently detained six people.
