BNP gets permission to hold mass sit-in at Nayapaltan

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has received approval from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold its preplanned mass sit-in program on Wednesday.

The protest program will be held between 10:00am and 2:00pm in front of the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters, notified AZM Zahid Hossain, vice chairman of BNP, after holding meeting with the DMP commissioner at the agency’s headquarters in Dhaka.

BNP wants to hold a strong mass sit-in program – the second initiative of their simultaneous movement – like the mass rally on December 10, last year, urging 10-point demand including the resignation of the current government and holding the election under a neutral government.

Also outside Dhaka, the mass sit-in will be held on Wednesday in every division of the country.

According to party sources of Awami League, the ruling party directed the leaders and activists to guard the streets during BNP’s mass sit-in program scheduled on January 11.
