General Secretary of ruling Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader remarked that BNP will destroy the state if it gets power again in the name of repairing Bangladesh.
He said this while participating in the discussion meeting organized in front of the party’s central office at 23, Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
Dhaka Metro South unit Awami League organized the program marking Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman`s homecoming day.
While addressing as chief guest Quader said, “BNP’s protest is nothing but a fake one. Will they repair the state? They will destroy the country if they get power again. The spirit of liberation war as well as independence will not survive.”
He remarked that the democracy will be destroyed if BNP would come to power.
“BNP sponsors militancy. We cannot hand over power to this evil force, who patrons communalism on the soil of Bangla,” he furthered.
He continued, referring to the BNP’s ongoing protest, by saying that relatively few people participated in BNP programs since the citizens rejected their (BNP’s) aspect.
Mentionable, BNP wanted to hold a strong mass sit-in program – the second initiative of their simultaneous movement – like the mass rally on December 10, last year, urging 10-point demand including the resignation of the current government and holding the election under a neutral government.
BNP`s next countrywide protest on Jan 16
On Wednesday, in front of Nayapaltan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared that the party would hold rallies and lead processions across the country on January 16 to meet the demands.
