BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed concerns over the role of certain advisers in undermining the neutrality of the interim government.
He urged Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus to dismiss those who are compromising and questioning the impartiality of the government. He made this statement while speaking to reporters at the BNP Chairperson`s office in Gulshan on Sunday (March 30).
Fakhrul emphasized that BNP would not accept a government that loses its neutrality ahead of the upcoming election.
He pointed out that some government advisers are misusing state resources for the interests of a specific political party, which contradicts the principle of neutrality and disrupts the democratic electoral environment. He further mentioned that government resources are being used for political purposes, including the allocation of funds for development projects and religious institutions in specific areas, which clearly violates the principle of neutrality.
According to the BNP Secretary General, these actions are undermining the neutrality of the interim government and signaling a failure to ensure a democratic election.
He called on the Chief Adviser to take prompt and effective measures to dispel any doubts among the public about the government`s impartiality.
Fakhrul also noted that the Chief Adviser has yet to provide a clear electoral roadmap that could have facilitated the completion of elections by December.
He stated that having a reliable roadmap would have eased the ongoing political crisis, allowing political parties to focus on election preparations and move forward with the electoral process.
