Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the incident in Gopalganj, Rajbari, where the body of Nurul Haque, also known as ‘Nurul Paglar’, was exhumed and burned.
The statement was issued on Saturday (6 September) by Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department. The party also shared the statement on its verified Facebook page.
The statement read: “Nurul Haque, who claimed to be ‘Imam Mahdi’, was exhumed and burned by members of the so-called ‘Iman-Aqeedah Protection Committee’. While Nurul Haque will be accountable to Allah for his actions during his lifetime, Islam does not permit the exhumation and burning of a body. This act violates basic humanitarian and religious values. We express our deep concern and strong condemnation over this incident.”
The statement further emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is a law-abiding, democratic, and Islamic-based organization. “The party does not tolerate any activity that creates disorder in society or the state. Jamaat-e-Islami has always played a responsible role in promoting peace and justice in the country. Therefore, attempting to link Jamaat-e-Islami with this incident is deeply regrettable, undesirable, and misleading,” it said.
Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer also urged authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that law enforcement agencies perform their duties responsibly to maintain peace and stability. He called on all relevant parties to refrain from actions that may disturb public order or create unrest in society.
