Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has said there is no possibility of the ban on Awami League’s activities being lifted anytime soon.

Speaking to journalists after visiting a Durga Puja pavilion in Barishal city on Wednesday (October 1), he stated, “When a party’s activities are banned, questions arise whether it is permanent or temporary. But I do not see any possibility of the ban on Awami League being withdrawn—not before the elections, nor in the near future.”

Responding to a question regarding the Chief Adviser’s recent interview with a foreign media outlet, Dr. Nazrul said, “The election will be held in the first half of February. We have no intention to stay even a minute beyond the polls. Our focus has been on visible progress in justice and reforms, and already 9–10 reforms have been implemented in the law ministry.”

Earlier, upon arriving at Barishal Circuit House, the Law Adviser visited Shankar Math near the city’s New Market area. He met with leaders of the Hindu community and exchanged greetings.

Dr. Nazrul noted: “Durga Puja is being celebrated with joy across the country. People of every faith are citizens of Bangladesh, and everyone has equal rights to practice their religion.”
