Finally Hindi film wins: Pathaan to be showed after Eid in Bangladesh

After Eid-ul-Fitr, imported Hindi films are going to be released in theaters of Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has informed in a statement that there are no more obstacles in the country in the import and release of films in subcontinental languages.

In a circular signed by Saiful Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, stated, "After reviewing of the request of Combined Film Council regarding the import of films made in sub-continental languages, the opinion of the Ministry of Commerce was sought."

According to the circular, based on the positive opinion of the Ministry of Commerce, in compliance with the conditions of section 25 (36) (c) of the existing Import Policy Order 2021-2024, against the export of Bangladeshi films, import of cinemas filmed in sub-continental languages from South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) countries is granted on an experimental basis subject to the following conditions:

(a) Legitimate film producers, distributors of Bangladesh will have the opportunity to import films made in subcontinental languages.

(b) Films made in sub-continental languages with Bengali subtitles will be allowed to be imported against export only on an experimental basis for two years.

(c) In the first year 10 films will be imported against an equal number of films export.

(d) Bangladesh Film Censor Board certificate must be obtained before showing imported subcontinental language films.

(e) Imported films shall not be screened during the week of Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja in Bangladesh as per this order.

On the other hand, since all obstacles in the import of Hindi films have been cleared, Shahrukh Khan‍‍`s ‍‍`Pathaan‍‍` is going to be released in the cinema halls of the country after Eid.

In addition, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and southern films will also be released in the country‍‍`s cinema halls in phases, according to the sources of the producer and distributor association.
