The government is conducting informal discussions with the country at the diplomatic level to cancel the Indian passport of Rabiul Islam alias Aarav Khan, a fugitive accused in the murder case of police officer Mamun Imran Khan in Bangladesh. The Ministry of Home Affairs is trying to start the process of canceling his passport soon.
The ministry will write to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka for this. The language and content of this letter has been finalized in the meantime. Meanwhile, The International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol has also issued a red notice against Rabiul alias Aarav Khan.
Sources of the ministry say that, how did Bangladeshi citizen Rabiul Islam fled to India and changed his name to get the passport of that country was discussed in the Indian High Commission in Dhaka in an informal meeting.
No formal letter has yet been sent to India in this regard. However, the matter is being discussed at the diplomatic level. In this discussion, Bangladesh was informed that Indian intelligence agencies are looking into the matter of Arav's passport. At the same time, the process of canceling his Indian passport has also started.
The Indian intelligence agencies are reviewing the statements made by Arav on Facebook recently. Apart from this, they are also inquiring about the address Arav used to get the passport in India and the office from where he got the passport. It is hoped that effective measures will be taken to cancel Arav Khan's Indian passport soon.
A senior official at the regional passport office in Kolkata, India, declined to talk about about Arav's passport issue.
The deceased Mamun Imran Khan was an Inspector of Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police. On July 9, 2018, the burnt body of Mamun Imran Khan was recovered from a forest in Ulukhola, Kaliganj, Gazipur. In that incident, Mamun's brother Jahangir Alam Khan filed a murder case at Banani police station of the capital as the plaintiff. The absconding accused in that case is Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan.
