After the Bangabazar fire incident, a fire broke out on the third floor of New Super Market in New Market area. The fire is yet to be brought under control. Various units of fire service are working to control the fire. Units are increasing as time progresses. At present 30 units of fire service and civil defense are working. A joint force of army, navy and air force has joined the rescue operation. Besides, 12 platoon members of BGB have been deployed along with RAB and police.
The fire service received information about the fire at 5:40 am on Saturday (April 15). According to the latest news (at 8:30 am) 30 units of fire service are working to control the fire.
Officer-in-Charge (OC-Media) of the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Shahjahan Sikder confirmed about the incident and told the media, "The fire broke out at New Super Market at 5:40 am and the fire service unit reached the spot within 5:43 am and started controlling the fire. However, no casualties have been reported so far.”
Meanwhile, after getting the news of the fire, traders rushed to the spot. They are seen crying in front of the market. Some of the traders are risking their lives to get the intact goods out of their shops.
Shopkeepers say that due to COVID, there was no business in the last few years, but this year, they got the opportunity to make up for the loss during Eid. Business was also going well. But, everything ended in a fire.
BGB and law enforcement officers are helping fire service department. After three hours, the fire is still not under control.
