A significant fire has erupted in the Firingi Bazar slum area of Chittagong, triggering a swift response from nine fire service units deployed to contain the blaze.
The fire was reported to the fire service authorities on Monday, April 15, around noon, triggering an immediate mobilization of resources to combat the flames.
Newton Das, an officer from the Chittagong Fire Service, confirmed that three units from Lama Bazar, Nandan Kanan, and Chandanpura have been dispatched to the scene to tackle the fire.
Eyewitnesses observed thick black smoke rising from the slum area adjacent to Mariners Road in Firingi Bazar following the outbreak of the fire. However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
The Agrabad control room of the fire service has informed that additional units are being deployed from various parts of the city to assist in bringing the fire under control.
