The fire in the capital's Bangabazar has spread to four other markets including the market on the opposite side of the road. 50 units of fire service are working to control this terrible fire. The markets are Bangabazar, Adarsh Mahanagar Market, Islamia Market, and Homeo Market. The army, navy, and air forces are also working to control the fire. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members are also working to control the fire.
The Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that support teams of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force are working to control the fire in Bangabazar. An Air Force helicopter also joined the fire control. From 9 am, the air force helicopter was seen gushing water.
Before the fire in Bangabazar market was brought under control, it spread to at least 4 buildings including the adjacent Annex market. A fire broke out at Annex Market around 8:30 am on Tuesday (April, 4).
The members of the fire service are working to control the fire at Bangabazar Market as well as the fire at Annex Market.
Police Headquarters, Dhaka University, Government Employee Hospital, Animal Hospital, Fire Service Headquarters, WASA, and Army, Navy, and Air Force vehicles are providing water. However, the fire is not under control. Water is also being taken from Hatirjheel to meet the shortage of water.
