Bangladesh has strongly condemned the recent Israeli military attacks on Iran, labeling them as "unlawful and aggressive."
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain described the assaults as a grave violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Iran’s sovereignty, warning that such reckless actions risk destabilizing the region and threatening global peace.
Speaking at the 51st session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, Hossain called for an immediate end to such provocations and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable.
He emphasized the need for collective diplomatic efforts to restore peace and uphold international norms.
Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to peace, solidarity, and development, highlighting the importance of a revitalized OIC that can respond effectively to the challenges faced by the Muslim world, including the ongoing humanitarian crises in Gaza and the plight of the Rohingya people.
Addressing the situation in Palestine, Hossain condemned Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza, which has persisted for over 600 days, resulting in widespread civilian casualties and destruction.
He called for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and a credible path toward a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestine.
Bangladesh urged the OIC to remain united and proactive in seeking justice through international mechanisms like the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The country called on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomacy to prevent further escalation.
