Bangladesh has called for renewed global cooperation and people-centred policies to promote social development and social justice worldwide.
Speaking at the 64th session of the Commission for Social Development at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury said development policies must put people at the centre.
The information was shared in a press release issued in Dhaka.
He said Bangladesh follows a broad development approach that focuses on rural development, women’s empowerment, youth progress, social safety programmes, climate resilience and inclusive financial systems.
The envoy also stressed the need for stronger international cooperation, especially in areas such as debt relief, disaster response and protection for people forced to flee their homes due to persecution.
The 64th session of the Commission for Social Development is being held at the UN headquarters from February 2 to February 10, 2026.
Bangladesh is currently serving as a member of the Commission for the 2023–2027 term.
