Dhaka University (DU) authorities have announced that all classes and examinations will remain suspended for three days, from September 8 to 10, on the occasion of the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
The announcement was made in a notice signed by Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed on Monday.
Earlier, a separate circular had declared a four-day closure beginning September 7. However, the latest directive reduced the suspension to three days.
The notice stated that, "It is hereby informed to all concerned that all classes and examinations will continue as usual on Sunday, September 7, 2025. In view of the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections 2025, all classes and examinations will remain suspended from Monday, September 8 to Wednesday, September 10, 2025."
According to university sources, the decision to shorten the closure period was taken in an effort to ensure maximum voter turnout.
