Climate activist Greta Thunberg found herself in police custody during a demonstration in The Hague, the Netherlands, this past Saturday.
Thunberg, alongside other protesters, was escorted by local authorities onto a large bus after attempting to obstruct a major highway leading into The Hague.
The young activist had participated in a protest comprising hundreds of individuals. Her detainment occurred when she joined a faction of approximately one hundred people in an attempt to block the A12 highway.
This particular road has witnessed numerous blockades over recent months, orchestrated by activists advocating for an end to all subsidies for fossil fuel consumption.
During previous demonstrations, detained protesters were typically transported by police to another area of the city, where they were subsequently released without facing further repercussions.
Local law enforcement officials were not immediately available for comment regarding the incident on Saturday.
