Bangladesh recorded two more dengue-related deaths in the last 24 hours, while 396 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The update, released on Thursday (October 2) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room, covers data from 8 am Wednesday to 8 am Thursday.
Of the new admissions, 87 were reported in Barishal division (outside city corporation areas), 96 in Chattogram division (outside city corporation areas), 90 in Dhaka division (outside city corporation areas), 52 in Dhaka North City, 56 in Dhaka South City, and 15 in Rajshahi division (outside city corporation areas).
Meanwhile, 409 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide during the same period, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 45,682.
The two deceased include a 16-year-old girl receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital and a 27-year-old man who was undergoing treatment at DNCC Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital.
DGHS data shows that a total of 202 dengue-related deaths have been recorded so far this year—10 in January, 3 in February, 7 in April, 3 in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, 39 in August, and 76 in September. No deaths were reported in March.
Since January, 48,228 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country. Among them, 1,161 were admitted in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,496 in August, and 15,866 in September.
