Three more people have died from dengue fever in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 331 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The data, released on Saturday (July 26) by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the DGHS, covers the period from 8:00 AM Friday to 8:00 AM Saturday.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 132 are from areas outside Barishal City Corporation, 30 from outside Chattogram City Corporation, 73 from outside Dhaka City Corporation areas, 28 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 47 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 18 from outside Khulna City Corporation, and three from outside Mymensingh City Corporation.
All three dengue fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were male. Two of the deaths occurred at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, and one at Mugda Medical College Hospital in Dhaka. This brings the total death toll from dengue this year to 73.
According to DGHS data, the month of July has so far recorded the highest number of dengue deaths this year, with 31 fatalities. In comparison, 19 people died in June, 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, and three in May. No deaths were reported in March.
Since January, a total of 19,120 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of these, 275 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Currently, 1,354 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals nationwide.
