Three more people died from dengue in Bangladesh in the 24 hours between Tuesday 8 am and Wednesday 8 am, raising the total number of deaths this year to 220, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 700 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, the DGHS’s Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room said in a press release on Wednesday (October 8).
Of the new patients, 155 were admitted under Dhaka North City Corporation, 110 under Dhaka South, and 149 in areas outside Dhaka City. Other divisions also saw new admissions — Barishal 105, Chattogram 61, Khulna 45, Mymensingh 33, Rajshahi 31, Rangpur 6, and Sylhet 5.
Since January this year, a total of 52,104 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country, the DGHS report added.
