Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,137 children were infected with measles or showed measles-like symptoms during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular measles situation report on Sunday.
According to the report, although four children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, no deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles.
Since March 15, a total of 748 children have died across the country with measles symptoms. In addition, 96 children have died from confirmed measles infections. In total, 844 children have died from measles and measles-related symptoms during this period.
The report said 115 children tested positive for measles in the last 24 hours, while 1,022 children suffered from measles-related symptoms. During the same period, 946 children were admitted to hospitals, and 886 children were discharged after receiving treatment.
According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 130,083 since March 15. Of these, 16,295 cases have been confirmed as measles infections.
During this period, a total of 112,620 patients have been admitted to hospitals, and 108,283 of them have been discharged after treatment.
