On Sunday, the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room reported in a press release that five more people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 636 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
According to the breakdown of hospital admissions in the past 24 hours: Barishal Division (outside city corporation) – 75; Chattogram Division (outside city corporation) – 95; Dhaka Division (outside city corporation) – 116; Dhaka North City Corporation – 147; Dhaka South City Corporation – 74; Khulna Division (outside city corporation) – 56; Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation) – 45; Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation) – 17; Rangpur Division (outside city corporation) – 2; and Sylhet Division (outside city corporation) – 9.
In the same 24-hour period, 803 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 92,025 patients have been discharged.
As of 30 November, a total of 94,402 people have been infected with dengue this year, of which 62.4% are male and 37.6% female.
With the recent deaths, the total number of dengue fatalities this year has reached 382. From 1 January to 31 December 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue, resulting in 575 deaths.
For comparison, in 2023, dengue caused 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospital admissions across the country.
