5 more die of dengue, 636 hospitalized across in 24 hours

Five more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 636 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to a Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room bulletin released on Monday (15 September).

The data, collected from 8 a.m. Sunday (14 September) to 8 a.m. Monday, show that among the new admissions, 131 patients were in Barishal division (outside city corporation areas), 92 in Chattogram division (outside city corporation areas), 131 in Dhaka division (outside city corporations), 105 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 97 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 29 in Khulna division (outside city corporation areas), six in Mymensingh division (outside city corporation areas), 34 in Rajshahi division (outside city corporation areas), seven in Rangpur division (outside city corporation areas), and four in Sylhet division (outside city corporation areas).

During the same 24-hour period, 502 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. Since the start of the year, 36,528 dengue patients have been released after treatment, while a total of 38,527 patients have been hospitalized so far. Of these, 60.2 percent were male and 39.8 percent female.

Among the five new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, three were women and two were men. The total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 155.
