5 more die of dengue; 953 hospitalized in 24 hours

Five people have died of dengue in the past 24 hours, while 953 others have been hospitalized across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The total number of dengue-related deaths this year has now risen to 230.

The DGHS’s Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room released the latest update in a press statement on Sunday (October 12).

Between 8 a.m. Saturday and 8 am Sunday, 953 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide. Among them, 141 were hospitalized in Barishal Division, 107 in Chattogram, 197 in Dhaka Division, 147 under Dhaka North City Corporation, 122 under Dhaka South City Corporation, 93 in Khulna, 46 in Mymensingh, 69 in Rajshahi, 23 in Rangpur, and 8 in Sylhet Division.

Since January this year, a total of 54,559 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh.

In the past 24 hours alone, 854 patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients this year to 51,783.
