The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reinstated the operating license of Ad-din Hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, which was previously revoked following the deaths of six newborns. However, the hospital has been allowed to resume operations subject to three conditions.
The information was disclosed in an order issued by the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday afternoon.
The ministry`s conditions are as follows:
- The hospital must continue to comply with the provisions of The Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982.
- It must promptly complete the recruitment of duty doctors and nurses in accordance with the terms of its license.
- If the hospital fails to comply with the licensing conditions, the government-authorized authority may take legal action at any time.
The hospital`s license was revoked after the deaths of six newborns triggered widespread public concern and criticism. Following an appeal by the hospital authorities, the Ministry of Health restored the license based on the findings and recommendations of an investigation committee, allowing the facility to resume operations.
