One person has died from dengue over the past 24 hours, while 153 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.
The information was disclosed today (Friday) in a dengue update issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the statement, of the 153 newly hospitalised dengue patients, 76 were admitted in Dhaka Division, 69 in Chattogram Division, four in Khulna Division and four in Barishal Division.
DGHS data show that, as of July 31 this year, a total of 15,310 dengue patients have been hospitalised nationwide. Including the latest fatality reported in the past 24 hours, the death toll from dengue has reached 54 so far this year.
Meanwhile, 14,089 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery this year. At present, 1,167 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
In 2025, from January 1 to December 31, a total of 102,861 dengue cases were recorded, with 413 deaths reported during the year.
In 2024, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths between January 1 and December 31.
In 2023, the country experienced its deadliest dengue outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations reported between January 1 and December 31.
