A 27-year-old readymade garment (RMG) worker, Kawsar Hossain Khan, was killed during a clash between workers and law enforcement in the Ashulia industrial area near Dhaka on Monday.
The confrontation left 30 others injured, including four with gunshot wounds.
Kawsar, an employee of Mango Tex in Tongabari, was originally from Mehediganj in Barishal.
Workers from various RMG factories had gathered around noon to protest unpaid wages, blocking a road in the Jirabo area.
Tensions escalated, leading police to use tear gas to disperse the crowd, which resulted in a violent clash. During the unrest, five police vehicles were vandalized.
