A Dhaka court today extended the deadline till April 2 for providing the investigative report regarding the case of the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi in February 2012.
This is for the 108th time the submission deadline has extended for this case.
According to court sources, Rab Additional Superintendent of Police Khondoker Md Shafiqul Alam, also the case`s investigation officer, failed to turn in his report today, therefore Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubul Haque issued the order.
Rab was ordered by another Dhaka court to turn in the investigation report by today on January 23 of this year.
Earlier, two separate courts expressed disappointment with the investigation and the investigators` failure to uncover the cause behind the murders and arrest the real criminals.
Sagar, a news editor of private TV channel Maasranga, and his wife Runi, a senior reporter at ATN Bangla, were murdered in their rented flat in the capital`s West Razabazar in the early hours of February 11, 2012.
Their then 5 year old only son, Mahir Sarowar Megh, was at home at the time. The following day, Runi`s brother, Nousher Ali Roman, filed a case at the Sher-e-Bangla Police Station.
