Rally, public gatherings banned near NBR office and surrounding areas

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of public gatherings, rallies, and demonstrations in the areas stretching from Shishu Mela in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) office on Agargaon Road and its surrounding vicinity.

The restriction will come into effect from Sunday, June 22, and will remain in place until further notice.

According to the official announcement, the prohibition covers the premises of the NBR office, the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) office, and adjacent areas within the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station’s jurisdiction. All kinds of assemblies, processions, marches, and protests are strictly prohibited in these zones.

The DMP stated that the decision was made in the interest of maintaining public order and security. The ban has been enforced under the authority granted by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance.

The restriction will be effective from 6:00 AM on Sunday and will continue until further instructions are issued.
