Tongi, Savar, Keraniganj may come under Dhaka metro

The government is planning to add Tongi, Savar, and Keraniganj under the Dhaka City Corporation region to modernize and make the megacity habitable.

According to Surveyor General of Bangladesh Brig Gen Md Habibul Haque, the Survey of Bangladesh has taken the initiative to create a large-scale topographic map of Dhaka and the surrounding areas using aerial photography.

According to an ISPR press release, he claimed the project would aid in creating the most current, comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) database and map of Dhaka city while speaking at a seminar at the Bangabandhu Military Museum in the nation's capital.

The government is working to ensure that municipal utilities are provided and to make Dhaka contemporary, attractive, and habitable. This journey will take on a new dimension because to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), according to Brig Gen Habib.

According to the Detailed Area Plan (DAP), Dhaka and the surrounding territories have a total area of 1,528 sq km.
