A training fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed in the Karnaphuli river at Patenga in Chattogram.
Two pilots were injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) of Chattogram, confirmed Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Port Zone Deputy Commissioner Shakila Soltana.
The incident happened around 11:15am on Thursday (May 9), reads a message sent by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a YAK 130 training fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed at Patenga in Chattogram due to mechanical failure. Two pilots in the fighter jet were rescued.
A video circulated in social media where it has been seen that the pilots jumped off and landed into the river using parachute.
Meanwhile, on receiving the information, officials of the navy, police, fire service and other agencies are conducting rescue operations at the spot.
