3 more die of dengue including a child, 409 hospitalized in 24 hours

Three more people, including a child, have died from dengue fever in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh. Meanwhile, 409 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals during the same period.

The data was released on Sunday, July 27, by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the report, hospital admissions in the past 24 hours (from 8:00 AM Saturday to 8:00 AM Sunday) were distributed as follows: 74 in Barishal Division (outside city corporation), 72 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporation), 67 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporation), 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 54 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 28 in Khulna Division (outside city corporation), 11 in Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation), 51 in Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation), 16 in Rangpur Division (outside city corporation), and 4 in Sylhet Division (outside city corporation).

The deceased include a one-year-old child who was receiving treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital, an 18-year-old woman at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and a 30-year-old man at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. These deaths raise the total dengue death toll this year to 76.

The report also highlights that July has seen the highest monthly death toll so far this year, with 34 fatalities. In comparison, June recorded 19 deaths, January 10, February 3, April 7, and May 3. There were no deaths reported in March.

Since January, a total of 19,529 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 530 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Currently, 1,230 dengue patients remain hospitalized across the country.
