From October 16 to October 20, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will carry out a special anti-dengue program in its wards.
According to Md Abu Naser, DSCC public relations officer, the five-day campaign would be conducted to destroy Aedes mosquitoes' breeding sites and manage the dengue outbreak.
On October 16 in Ward 6, on October 17 in Ward 2, on October 18 in Ward 3, on October 19 in Ward 56, and on October 20 in Ward 15, he added, these special campaigns will be held.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 89 persons died from dengue and 24,326 were infected with the virus as of October 15 of this year (DGHS).
The actions made by the city corporations and other authorities are not working, according to doctors and health specialists. The public relations efforts and campaigns made by the authorities to eliminate Aedes mosquito larvae seem insufficient.
Dr. Mohammad Abdus Sabur Khan, a public health specialist, stated that even though dengue severity typically declines within September, but the circumstances are different this time. "Now that October has arrived, dengue is still a threat. This time, it appears that dengue will continue to spread until mid-November ".
